CORPUS is a new customer magazine aimed as much at decision makers in the construction industry as at architects, structural engineers, urban planners and product designers. Its focus is on the review and analysis of current issues in the fields of urbanization, architecture, infrastructure and sustainability – all of which have a major effect on how we will live in the future, worldwide.

How will demographic change and the rapid growth of cities impact the architecture of tomorrow? How can ecological and urban planning challenges be mastered with the aid of new high-performance materials? Interdisciplinary work on possible responses to these and other important issues is presented interactively in CORPUS. Some of these approaches are embodied in BASF high-performance products for the construction sector, and the magazine graphically depicts and explains their characteristics and possible applications. CORPUS is appearing quarterly.

The K show will soon be opening its doors – it was here that we premiered our SLENTITE high-performance insulating material three years ago. Since then a lot has happened, as we shall show in Düsseldorf from 19 to 26 October. And we’ve got a true all-round experience in store for visitors: In our 360° film, they can immerse themselves in architectural worlds. We shall be telling you more about the making-of the film for the trade show on the following pages.
In this issue, we are also presenting intelligent solutions for urban challenges. The combination of biology and technology makes the CityTree developed by start-up Green City Solutions a living pollution filter. In an interview, co-founder and COO Peter Sänger explains the principle behind it and shares his vision for the clean, livable city of tomorrow. The future is also the subject in Luxemburg where the Pont Grand-Duchesse Charlotte, one of the city’s key bridges, is being refurbished. The use of our Sandwich Plate System ensures that the traffic artery will stay open throughout the project.

We hope you enjoy your read of CORPUS #6.
